Talking Points & Request for Support:
Our community has rallied for public support. The Cincinnati Park Board and the Cincinnati Parks Foundation and its full Board of Directors has invested thousands of dollars in programming this space.
Roller skaters and members from our Steering Committee joined us as we gave comments at each Budget & Finance Committee meeting- from the neighborhoods to City Hall. If we talk about making our city more welcoming, these are the next generation of leaders who will help us do that. These are the next generation of leaders who haven't felt welcomed, included or engaged before.
We have the Steering Committee NOW, we have the project prioritized under the Cincinnati Parks Foundation and Cincinnati Parks' Strategic projects over the next few years.
As we go out for private support, we need the commitment of public support. Sawyer Point will become an even bigger destination Park, raising Cincinnati in the national trend of roller-skating. Likening Cincy to venues in NYC and Venice Beach, CA.
Please don't push this project to next year. It's more than a Skating Rink, it's a project that embraces social change and EQUITY amongst ALL.
Can we count on your support of the Riverfront Skating Rink at Sawyer Point? We have a lot of people taking notes right now, watching what happens next, and with city support approved in this year's budget request it will allow us to attract additional private funds to help restore this facility. We'll continue to grow the momentum of private and corporate support we've already earned from Cincinnati business leaders and civic-minded philanthropists backing this project, along with civic participation.
